How To Install Interior Window Shutters With Outside Mounts

Privacy in your home from prying eyes on the outside has always been important to people. There are a variety of different types of window treatments that people use to keep that privacy. They use curtains, drapes, blinds and shades. These are great to keep out the sun on hot days as well as give your home privacy when wanted. Probably one of the least used type would be window shutters for the inside of the house. Most people think of the outside of the house when it comes to shutters.

There is no reason that you can not use window shutters to add privacy. Not only do they provide great privacy but they also add a unique elegance to the room as well. Depending upon what style you get, they can add a lot more to your window treatment than other types, especially blinds.

If you come to the decision that you might like to try to add shutters to the inside of your windows, below you will find easy steps that will make your job of installing your shutters a lot easier.

There are a variety of different types of things that you will need in order for you to complete this project. You will need the shutters of course, the hardware that comes with your shutters, a saw, screwdriver, paint or stain, polyurethane, paint brush, tape measure. Depending upon what kind of shutters you get will determine the materials that you will need to be able to complete the project. The ones mentioned here are the most commonly required items.

Before you begin you need to decide whether or not you want the window shutters to be installed on the inside of the window or if you would rather have them as outside mounts. Since the window frames are rarely perfectly square, probably the easier route would be to use an outside mount.

We will go with the outside mount here for easier installation, this will take less time and gives you more flexibility with regards to how you hang the shutters. With outside mounts you can hang shutters vertically or horizontally.

The first thing that you will do is mount your hanging strips along each side of the frame of the window. Now you will take the shutter panels and hinge them together with face mount hinges that are supplied by the company that made the shutters. Make sure you have a spacer between each of the shutter panels so that you will be able to close the shutters easily.

Now you will take the hinges and connect them to the shutters, make sure to follow the shutters manufacturers instructions on how to place the hinges on the shutters. You will now want to make sure to mark holes on the hanging strips so that you will know where to connect the hinges at. Once you have done that, you can go ahead and drill holes for the screws for the hinges.

The final installation step is to actually attach the shutters to the hanging strips.

Final note: If you decide to buy unfinished shutters, it is advisable that you paint or stain them before you install them. And if you have louvered shutters it will be a lot less time consuming and easier to use spray paint for these types of shutters.

Relationship Advice – Talking Styles

It is no secret that men and women communicate differently. Men often talk to problem solve, women often talk just to connect. Men often try to drive points home, women are comfortable not having to get someplace in the conversation.

This often becomes a source of frustration in relationships. The talking styles we have can cause conflict and separation rather than bringing us together. Becoming more aware of not only your talking style but your mates can make a big difference in how much intimacy you experience in your relationship.

A basic guy talking style is to make points and take charge in a conversation. As you know, men are more territorial by genetics. They like to dominate parts of a conversation. They may interrupt a lot. They may try to make points loud and clear. They may try to argue and “defend” their points.

Also, men like to problem solve. It is the hunter killer instinct. If there is a deer and you need meat, you have to kill the deer. If there is a problem, then you have to kill the problem. You have to solve it if you can. So men like to identify problems (the boss sucks, your sister is a mess) and then, whenever possible, offer solutions (you should get a new job, your should tell your sister to stop being a doormat). Just note that men don’t have to have good solutions, but they will offer them up.

A normal talking style for women is often to converse to connect and reflect. They don’t need to have things figured out. They often aren’t trying to get to a resolution. They don’t need to dominate their partner with points or a solution. They actually share their thinking process out loud as a way to connect.

A woman will say their boss sucks, then share that the boss is having a hard time in their relationship. They are connecting with their mate, sharing their process. They aren’t trying to drive a point home or get to big final resolution. They can make points that seem unrelated.

This style often drives men nuts. Saying the boss sucks is good, they are with you. The deer is identified. Saying the boss is having love problems is irrelevant. You don’t need to know the deer is having relationship issues to kill it! Just shoot the darn deer by quitting your job.

The way the sexes communicate differently is vast. But if you get that men like to make clear points and kill off problems, and that women often like to communicate to share and connect and reflect, you are off to a great start. Then you can try this: take some time each week to communicate in your mate’s style, not yours, and see what happens.

Want A Safe Retirement Income? Make a Personal Budget Plan for Retirement

Guess what? At some point soon, you will stop working and retire. For some, this is agreat chance to enjoy life and do things they never got the opportunity to do while they were on the go with working and raising a family. If you are then you probably created your own personal budget worksheet.

For other people retirement will be a terribly alarming prospect, with no money coming in and some of the largest costs to be confronted. Though work stops, the reality is that life (and your costs) doesn’t. Wouldn’t it be nice to have the peace of mind that you will have the resources and income to pay those costs?

Haven’t started? Don’t despair, there is some income planning for retirement that you can do in advance to develop a safe source of revenue for when you retire. Of course the best (and you can teach your children or grandchildren to do this), is when you reach that stage of life where you are receiving a secure salary, to start to put cash aside in strong investments for when you retire. You can do this by excalating your investments. Tiny contributions to many areas (diversification) will add up when you retire to offer you a comfortable living- if you are intelligent and prudent you can find that your retirement earnings could essentially be more than your typical salary was! The best places to put this money is in areas where it is going to be in a position to grow over time.

In some areas, it’s also feasible to invest in a qualified retirement plan which will not only develop gains and interest until the time you retire, also such plans are generally tax deductible. You need to also look for a job in which a regular contribution is made by both the company and by yourself to a qualified retirement plan. Ask your employer if they can have some money subtracted from each paycheck and deposited to a particular retirement plan. In fact, many companies already have systems set up to do so and will match the contributions generated by the worker (and you thought there was no such thing as free money).

The most crucial thing when you’re creating your personal budget plan is to make certain that the cash you invest for that purpose remains there. Many folks lose their retirement nest egg during emergencies or maybe making an investment in opportunities that appear iron clad, but are not. When you invest towards your retirement, don’t touch it. There is a reason that the IRS penalizes you for withdrawing your retirement monies early. Any risks, so far as investments go, should be taken on with money that you specifically budget for that purpose (generally not more than 10 percent of net assets), and not with any of the cash that you plan on setting aside for retirement purposes.

Care and long term planning are the slogans when creating your personal budget plan for retirement. Make a plan and stick to it, and your golden years will be the best time of your life.
