Privacy in your home from prying eyes on the outside has always been important to people. There are a variety of different types of window treatments that people use to keep that privacy. They use curtains, drapes, blinds and shades. These are great to keep out the sun on hot days as well as give your home privacy when wanted. Probably one of the least used type would be window shutters for the inside of the house. Most people think of the outside of the house when it comes to shutters.
There is no reason that you can not use window shutters to add privacy. Not only do they provide great privacy but they also add a unique elegance to the room as well. Depending upon what style you get, they can add a lot more to your window treatment than other types, especially blinds.
If you come to the decision that you might like to try to add shutters to the inside of your windows, below you will find easy steps that will make your job of installing your shutters a lot easier.
There are a variety of different types of things that you will need in order for you to complete this project. You will need the shutters of course, the hardware that comes with your shutters, a saw, screwdriver, paint or stain, polyurethane, paint brush, tape measure. Depending upon what kind of shutters you get will determine the materials that you will need to be able to complete the project. The ones mentioned here are the most commonly required items.
Before you begin you need to decide whether or not you want the window shutters to be installed on the inside of the window or if you would rather have them as outside mounts. Since the window frames are rarely perfectly square, probably the easier route would be to use an outside mount.
We will go with the outside mount here for easier installation, this will take less time and gives you more flexibility with regards to how you hang the shutters. With outside mounts you can hang shutters vertically or horizontally.
The first thing that you will do is mount your hanging strips along each side of the frame of the window. Now you will take the shutter panels and hinge them together with face mount hinges that are supplied by the company that made the shutters. Make sure you have a spacer between each of the shutter panels so that you will be able to close the shutters easily.
Now you will take the hinges and connect them to the shutters, make sure to follow the shutters manufacturers instructions on how to place the hinges on the shutters. You will now want to make sure to mark holes on the hanging strips so that you will know where to connect the hinges at. Once you have done that, you can go ahead and drill holes for the screws for the hinges.
The final installation step is to actually attach the shutters to the hanging strips.
Final note: If you decide to buy unfinished shutters, it is advisable that you paint or stain them before you install them. And if you have louvered shutters it will be a lot less time consuming and easier to use spray paint for these types of shutters.

The sink can also be redecorated with a new material wherein choices vary from glass and porcelain to granite and marble.
Bathroom rugs are equally important elements of any decor, which need to be chosen with great care and they need to be water absorbent. Cotton rugs in different shapes and designs are the best suited for this purpose. There are other kinds of modern rugs, which are available made using different materials and can be good for absorbing water when used in the wet areas. There is beauty in simplicity. Just place them in the right spots and your home will look beautiful than ever.
Add to the list of cheap decorating ideas are throw pillows. They are very affordable and like area rugs also come in different sizes, shapes, texture and colors. Coordinating paint colors help your room feel like it’s been carefully decorated. You can use colors that work together to create a specific theme or idea in your room. You can use paint on almost any surface in a room for an inexpensive makeover that looks custom.
You need to leave some open space in your color palette so it doesn’t become overpowering. Daring shades also need subtle colors for balance.
A subtle room doesn’t have to be uninteresting; a neutral palette may even include shimmering colors. Imagine adding a copper tin ceiling for a breathtaking feature that still has an antique feeling. When you use neutral colors you get a space that will last for years to come. Neutral shades also give a longer life to furniture and flooring that you’ll probably have for a few years and then make the room pop with paint and decor accessories.
You might have your heart set on using two tones that may not seem like they match. All you need is just one piece that incorporates both of the shades to create a color palette. You may be able to find fabric for throw pillows that has both of your shades in it, then you can put solid pillows in the two colors to save money as long as you have that one item that shows off the entire idea.
Use coordinating paint colors to portray a specific feeling. A theme room can be contemporary and custom to your space when you change the traditional shade for the theme. If you want antique feeling rooms then paint the walls sage green and add in rich wood trim but paint your furniture a stark white or ebony. If Moroccan is more your speed then paint your walls a rich brown to set the mood and then pile in furniture in eggplant, terra cotta and teal.
You need to find a way that you can personally relate to color. You use color everyday without thinking about it. Look at a makeup compact to see how you match colors without realizing it. You also coordinate paint colors when you get dressed. You may have a hobby like web design or even cooking where you create presentations based on shade. You can translate these colors and items into the same theory to select paint colors so the experience is fun and personal to you.
A popular way to coordinate paint colors is through the use of inspiration pieces. You might want to base your room around a vase or even a sports jersey. If you want the item to blend into the room then pick shades that are close to it, but use colors opposite of the color wheel or subdued tones to make your item the focal point of the room.

For several years people would stick to neutral when painting their walls and most of the accessories that were in the room would stick to the same colors. White and beige have been the easy ways to decorate for years. But it’s time to bring that room into the now and add some color.
To save money try and use what you have at your house. Even have your children draw some pictures on a white mat and frame it. This is a great way that you not only bring color to the room but to showcase your child who will be proud their art is on the walls. Maybe you have good china plates so put them in a china cabinet to be displayed and to bring out color.
Brightly colored paint can add vitality a ho-hum room. Try adding an orange color block to a neutral living room. A designer’s trick is to leave strip of the original wall colors to soften the bold new color. The strips also act as a frame and add to the daring mood of the room.
There are other techniques when painting on your existing walls. Why not use a vibrant color and then choose this to be the focal point in your room design. You can always use sponges, brushes, or even newspaper to create a texture look on one certain wall in each room.
Choosing specific accessories can add great interest in the room by its colors. For instance flowers, vases, quilts or other colorful objects will add a great depth of color into the room. Abstract art is always filled with bright lively colors and unique shapes.
Something else that can greatly add to a room is an area rug. Place it in a single room, or even as a divide between 2 rooms. These rugs come in many colors, and you can really add a lot to a color scheme you have implemented in your room. Persian rugs can add a very warm look to the room too. If you have a hard wood floor you can use the rug for more than just design but also to give you more cushion in between the floor and your feet.
Window treatments are the last step to tie the decor theme together. Make sure if you choose a patter rather than a solid color, it will accommodate the design scheme already in the room. You’ll have many different types of window treatments to consider; tie-back curtains, valances, shirred curtains, and also cafe curtains. Choosing the window treatment will add another texture into the room’s vibe.
Adding color to any room in your house is very easy. There are a lot of great ways to make any room jazzy. So check out your rooms and see if you could use more color.

One of the more exciting and unique ways you can decorate your home or an area of your house is with a purple area rug. Purple is a color that has always symbolized royalty along with a bit of an exotic undertone that you can not really get with anything else. With that, there is more than one contrast of purple and finding the exact one to fit into your home’s current color themes or other decorations may take a little effort on your part.
The first thing to really consider is the color of the rug, which is bold and will stand out. However, though the color will be your main priority you need to consider the style and the quality of the rug. The style is especially important because it needs to work with the rest of the room without overwhelming it. It’s a purple rug, so extra care must be taken in design. Also of utmost importance is the quality of the rug. You do not want to purchase a rug that will fall apart in less than one year. The best types to use in areas that you will get the most usage out of are woolen, handcrafted rugs. Of course there are more materials that you can find them made of, such as cotton.
If you have the chance to shop at a store, you may want to measure the rug to determine whether or not it will fit in the room you are looking to redecorate. Additionally the store might have varying shades of purple area rugs on display, which will allow you to visualize how it will look in your home. Rugs will come in all shapes and sizes. The most common come in five by seven feet, or four by six feet. However, you can find circular shaped rugs or get a custom-made purple area rug. Custom made rugs will fit any area and have several designs to perfectly suit your space.
You can also find smaller rugs that can be put down in tight spaces or in front of a door, the kitchen sink, or even the refrigerator. The unique color of the rug will draw attention whenever you have guests over.
Make sure whatever purple area rug you choose has a style that will work well in your home and fit your personality. In case someone in your household has allergies, it is also easy to find rugs that will be sensitive to their problem and not irritate their senses.
Giving your home a unique flair can be difficult. But it is made much easier if you choose to put down purple area rugs.

Using smaller-than-room-size rugs to highlight particular areas in a room can be challenging if not daunting, due to several subjective factors that affect the choice of rugs and their placement. However, as in many instances there are ‘rules’ or norms that may be followed when placing rugs in a room. Some of these are the following:
Use a rug to fill up a large room. You can do this by choosing a corner or section of a large room to place a rug. Choose a size like 4′x6′ or 5′x7′ so it won’t be too large. You may want to choose a hexagon shape or round shape to enhance the look in that area. Try placing a small table on top of the rug. Barely place the front legs of each chair on the rug and the rest of the chair can be off the rug.
When using rugs in your dining room you will want to measure your table top and then add a minimum of two feet around in order to allow the chairs to be pushed back or forth and not be off the rug. If you do not allow for this extra room your chairs may go off the rug and cause the corners and edges to get caught up in the chair.
However, china cabinets, serving tables or other items of furniture should not rest on the rug.
When placing a rug down in your bedroom you may want to consider small rugs placed around your bed and in front of your furniture. This will accent your area and not look overwhelming. Placing a large rug in your bedroom will probably get covered up by the bed. This may make it difficult to keep cleaned and vacuumed.
When placing rugs down in the bedroom be sure to center the rugs so they balance out the room.
Rugs can enhance an empty space in front of a fireplace or bookcase, or the middle of a room. It adds color and some personality or mood to the space that expresses an ambiance. When selecting a rug for a particular blank space, choose one that will complement the order or motif of the nearby wall panels and furniture or brighten the space up. An Oriental rug will be in congruent, for example, in a room which is all chrome and leather.
When selecting a rug you may want to lean more toward hand woven rugs instead of rugs made by machines. They are more durable and made better. If you have a rug in a high traffic area you will want to choose dark colored tones in your rug to hide the traffic paths.
Decorating with rugs just got even simpler with these cream rugs.

A good rug can last a long time and if it is looked after well, it can not only prove to be durable but also retain much of its original beauty. There are some useful ideas that will be of practical use when it comes to the maintenance of a rug. If you would like to see your rug looking great after years of years, consider the following ideas.
Rug padding is essential in proper rug maintenance. Placing padding down that is between 3mm and 6mm thick can protect your floor and help absorb traffic on your rug. Over time the padding can wear down but you can replace it and preserve the life of the rug.
Depending on your rug design you need to turn your rugs on a regular basis. Over time, rugs can show sun fading as well as traffic wear. If you can turn your rugs around often you can increase the life of your rug. But only do this if the rug design allows.
Clean your rugs at frequent intervals. If you don’t feel you can do a good job, you can get your carpet professionally cleaned.
Avoid vacuum cleaning delicate rugs whose fibres could get damaged with the force of suction. When you are drying a rug, don’t hang or drape it – it should be laid flat on the ground and care should be taken not to step on it until it is completely dry.
Because the sun can fade the beautiful colors from your rug you want to place a curtain over the windows where your rug is placed. The curtains can filter most of the sun and save your color.
When you are moving rugs around, roll them up; do not fold them. Folding can cause permanent creases and even tear the fibres of the rug. If you are moving house, keep rolled up rugs on top of furniture, and don’t place any heavy objects on them. When you lay the rug out again, if any of the corners stick up, you can place a few books on it for a few days to make it flat again. Creases that have formed during transportation will flatten out when the rug is placed flat and walked on as usual.
Keep up with current trends in decorating with rugs and enhance your home with round braid area rugs.
