If you are just starting out as a sitter, you definitely need good babysitting tips. You may not realize it at first but taking care of kids is not always very easy. Here are some good points to remember on your first few stints as a babysitter.
Know Your Limits
If you want to be an effective babysitter, this is one thing you need to establish. You have to find out for example which age bracket you would be most comfortable with. Different skills are needed for different ages of kids. You can well imagine that taking care of infants and toddlers would involve a lot more patience and effort than watching over bigger kids. If you think you cannot handle the job, do not consider applying for it.
Get to Know Your Charges
Get to know the kids. You should ask questions before you are left alone with them. One important thing to find out is if any of the kids under your care have medical conditions. This will help you prepare the kinds of food or medications that are required. Knowing about the kids conditions will also help you plot an emergency plan that you can follow should problems arise.
Aside from medical conditions, it would also be a good idea to ask parents about the characteristics of each child. This may help you deal better with each kid especially when it comes to discipline.
Enroll in Relevant Short Courses
Be ready for any emergencies. One way to ensure this is to enroll in relevant classes. Such classes include basic first aid and emergency preparedness. Having these in your resume will help recommend you even more to a potential employer. More importantly, these short courses will also equip you with the right skills to respond to real emergencies when they arise. You could be the key to saving a childs life under your care.
Stay Attentive
In every job that involves kids, being attentive should be a given. Some sitters though tend to believe that they will always stay attentive. Sometimes this is harder said than done. There may be some personal circumstances that may make babysitting difficult. You could for example be exhausted from another side job or from school. This can make paying attention to kids a little tough. It would help if you only accepted sitting tasks on hours that you know arent tiring for you. Never baby sit if you know you cant keep your eyelids from drooping.
Keep All Important Numbers Ready
Some situations you encounter when sitting may be beyond your ability to handle. Even if you do have certificates in special courses, there may be some situations you may not be able to handle. This is why you should always have important numbers within reach. These include numbers of hospitals, poison control, fire department and the like. You should also have the mobile phone numbers of the kids parents.
Babysitting tips come in handy when you are alone with the kids. These are only a few of them. There are many others that you may have to learn. These basic tips however are more than enough to help you make a good start at babysitting.

You must have your child’s car seat installed before the hospital will release your baby to you to take home. The selection from infant car seats to child booster seats varies to fit all ages, although it may seem a bit overwhelming to, just choose one. They come in a wide assortment of designs and colors. You want to ensure the safety of your child by learning about safety features of children’s car seats, before buying one.
One essential thing to keep in mind while comparison-shopping for an infant seat or child booster seat is to never buy pre-owned car seats! It is essential that the integrity of the car seat be intact. You also need to know if there is a recall, especially for any known safety issues. Shopping thrift stores and consignment shops are fine for everything else baby related, however, this is not true of car seats.
Begin comparison-shopping for your children’s car seats a few months before labor and delivery. Sure, you want one that is eye catching, however, patterns of little pink fairies and big blue bunnies will do nothing to keep your child safe.
Infant seats are designed for infants. These seats will be rear-facing, and should be used in the rear-facing position as long as possible. Read the manufacturer’s specifics for your seat, but most are up to 20 pounds and/or one year old. If your baby is petite, you may want to keep the rear facing seat until the infant gets to one inch below the head of the car seat.
Many rear-facing car seats are convertible; therefore, once your child grows bigger you can face the seat forward. You do need to have one that satisfies the correct positioning for the weight and age of the child. Generally, this design allows for up to 40 pounds. If your child’s car seat is not convertible, you need to purchase a newer, more suitable car seat when your child outgrows it. Many states require an elementary school child to use a child booster seat.
To ensure the proper fit, you need to measure from the ceiling to the seat as well as the width of the area you will place the seat in the backseat. You do not want your child to touch the car ceiling. You will need room to reach around to calm your child at times, so make sure the child has enough space.
Do some research to learn about the car seat safety features for any model that you are interested in buying. Check to make sure there are no complaints or recalls listed.
Once you have done your research and found the right seat, it’s time to make sure it’s installed correctly. Your seat should not wiggle around by more than one inch. A great percentage of car seats are not properly installed, and if you are not feeling confident that your seat is secure enough, there may be a special date at the hospital or with your police or fire department where someone can help you install it correctly.
The car seat you use should be safe and suitable for you, your child and the vehicle you drive. This is essential to have peace of mind while driving with your child in tow.

Even Halloween is about transformation. It’s a night when ordinary folk have the opportunity to transform into a strange creature of their choice, be it a living one, a dead one, or an imaginary one. It’s the stuff of dreams… or nightmares, whichever is your preference. Adults and children let their imaginations run wild.

Every parent can attest to the fear of the 2 a.m. Scream. Will you creep into your kid’s room only to find the crib, the walls, the floor and the ceiling covered in poop? Did the diaper hold back your youngster’s cannon of feces, or did it surrender?
The Nappy War Zone – Bring Your Poop Shields!
My first experience with the poop explosion happened vicariously through my husband. He was on night duty when my child was a fortnight old. He crept downstairs as my child was crying and entered the room. Not needing to totally wake our child and to maintain the beginnings of my boy’s sleep schedule, my husband only turned on a low light. He lifted my child onto the changing table and removed his diaper. Quickly grabbing a new diaper, my man started to lift my child’s legs to put on the new diaper. He quickly wiped my child spotting that my son could have already pooped a little. Then, before he realized what was going on, my son coated my partner in poop all the way up to my hubby’s forearm. If my hubby had waited a few minutes, the diaper might have saved him from a very messy and disgusting event.
Armaments We tried varied kinds of diapers through my son’s infancy and discovered that certain brands fit him more than others. But , beyond fit, we searched for the poop-explosion stopping diaper. We found our best luck with Huggies Supreme Diapers. It was the only diaper that had explosion-stopping elastic robust enough to keep us clean. Huggies Supreme Diapers also have a significant large serious amount of soaking ability with their LeakLock system.
Engagement – Putting The Diapers To The Test
After choosing Huggies Supreme Diapers for our weapon of choice, we waited for our boy to launch his next poop campaign. My son was six months old when he made a decision to test our diaper choice. He had attempted prune juice for the 1st time. Within four hours I could smell something acrid coming from his diaper. I knew it was time to see if we had selected cleverly. After getting my son settled on the changing table, I opened his diaper. I had been fully expecting to see feces within his garments. I was pleasantly stunned to find the mess well contained to the diaper. The majority of it had doused into the LeakLock area and with some wipes my son was as good as ever.
Is the Nappy War Over?
While no diaper is one hundred pc guaranteed, I am a fan of Huggies Supreme Diapers. Since my son’s youth, we’ve faced many an explosion. Some have been as well contained as the first, but some have been much much worse. Now that we have moved to potty training, I know that I will continue to trust the Huggies brand with their Pull Ups coaching Pants because they use the same technology as the Huggies Supreme Diapers. If you’re fighting your way through the diaper wars, try as many kinds of diapers as you can. You will eventually find one that works for your child ; and like me with Huggies Supreme Diapers, you won’t fear the two a.m. Scream as much.

Get them into the Transformers Optimus Prime Deluxe Child Costume and when it comes to the crunch they’ll be ready for it.
Your child may want to imagine the infinite possibility that comes from wearing the Transformers Animated Bumblebee Childs Costume. In this life-like costume your little bumblebee will be buzzing to defeat the evil robots.

Are you regularly ambushed by little ones popping out from behind doors and weaving their way through the house and over the furniture battling evil? Perhaps you’re the proud parent of a Jedi Knight. You may not know it but there could be a strategically important intergalactic war going on at your place. Or maybe you’ve a little Princess Leia who sometimes seems to be on a planet far, far away.
Oh the joy of childhood – when you know magic is real and your reality and imagination come together resulting in a whole lot of fun and a few cuts and bruises.
Halloween is a time when the whole family can embrace a world of limitless possibilities and openly believe in a world beyond our own. If your children have imaginations that extend far beyond our own solar system then why not buy them original kids Star Wars Halloween costumes so they can make those dreams a little more real.
For the young Jedi Knight there’s the Super Deluxe Jedi Robe Child Costume or the Star Wars Luke Skywalker Child Costume. He’ll be right at home battling the evil ones on the night.
Perhaps your little princess has grandiose ambitions and already likes to lay down the law. Or maybe you have royal blood in your family veins. If so, the Queen Amidala Costume will let her express her royalty on Halloween.
What boy doesn’t like chaos? The dark side and Halloween both celebrate a lack of order and that certainly is appealing to many short order Siths. The Darth Maul Childs Costume will have your pint sized assassin ready to do battle with any stray spook or vampire.
It’s said that many a true word has come from the mouth of babies, so if your child has a wisdom beyond their years the Star Wars Yoda Deluxe Child Costume will be the obvious choice. His or her words of wisdom will guide any wayward souls to the Force.
Got a young cop or soldier on your hands? Get it out of their system on Halloween by letting them live out their Stormtrooper fantasy while they’re still young. The Star Wars Clone Trooper Costume could be the way to go. If your little ones aren’t quite big enough to take on the battles of the Galactic Empire, there’s the R2D2 or C-3PO Infant Costume to choose from. Your little droid is bound to be happy with one of these.
Help your children become lost in their amazing imaginations this Halloween. Your own imagination may have dimmed with age and the everyday realities of life but watching your young ones enjoy a mystical and magical night on Halloween will refresh your memory!
Halloween isn’t just for kids. Why not get the whole family into authentic Star Wars Halloween costumes and revisit the awesome experience that Star Wars gave you on the big screen.

Have you got a pint sized super hero at your house? Perhaps you’re being overrun by mini masters of mass destruction. Or maybe your kids are turning into tweens and they’ve had a personality implant and they’re now nothing like the sweet children you once knew.
They probably drive you nuts most of the time but the time is coming when chaos and mayhem are expected and celebrated – that’s right, Halloween is just around the corner. Oh, don’t sigh – it’s the one night of the year when you can dress up your little superheroes and monsters, let them loose on the neighborhood and laugh – instead of pulling your hair out by the roots.
With all manner of creatures roaming the area you might need some serious protection so you’ll need a little superhero around to fend off evil. Someone with the powers of Batman could certainly help.
We all know that superheros come in all shapes and sizes so there’s a costume to suit your crime fighter no matter how big or small. Even if you only have an infant Bat, there is plenty of choice. Set your little bat on the path to glory and greatness with a Batman or Batgirl Bib Costume, or choose for the Batman Brave or Bold Deluxe Bib Costume.
If your superhero is steadier on his feet he might be ready for the Robin Infant Costume or the Batman Dark Knight Toddler Costume. If he’s ready to fight for the forces of good he might be ready for the Batman Begins Deluxe Muscle Chest Costume. With this suit he will strike fear into the hearts and minds of anyone intent on doing evil.
Why should boys have all the fun? If it’s a superheroine you have on your hands there’s a great array of Batgirl costumes so there’s bound to be one she’ll be happy to wear. She’ll be able to wield her super powers wearing the DC Comics Batgirl Teen Costume or the Robin Tween Costume. She’ll look great and feel confident when she takes on the bad guys – and there’ll be plenty of them out there on Halloween!
Of course, if she is one of the bad guys she might be more at home in the Dark Knight Joker Costume. Whether you have a teen, a tween or a toddler, you’ll find something to fit so your little superheroine can ward off evil in style.
Halloween is a night when imaginations work overtime and chaos and mayhem are the norm. It’s a night when the kids (and you) are allowed to run amok, and squeal and scream with delight. Let the tensions of the week go and unpack your own imagination. Remember the fun and games of your childhood and help your little ones celebrate their liveliness and youth.
Halloween is the one night of the year when the veil between the living and the dead is raised and we celebrate the abundance of life in all its forms. Let your kids celebrate and connect with their own powerful life force by having the chance to imagine living the life of a superhero. Child Batman Halloween costumes are the perfect way to make your child’s comic book and movie dreams come to life.

Does your place look like a shipwreck after the kids have been through it? Do they leave a sort of salty body odour behind them? Do they leave the toy box and wardrobe looking like they’ve been plundered? You may have even spotted small traces of sand on the furniture and the floorboards even though it’s been ages since you went to the beach.
If any of these signs seem familiar you may be living with a pint-sized pirate. Halloween is a time when we can express our true inner character, so why not get your little buccaneer a unique kids pirate Halloween costume that will reveal to the world their one, true form.
Halloween is the one night of the year when we all believe that the impossible may just be real. It’s a time to let our imaginations run wild and embrace the infinite possibilities the world can offer. Movies and books give us an escape from the everyday and Halloween can make that escape real, at least for one night.
So if they’re itching to get out on the high seas, get them into some real pirate Halloween costumes for children this year and they’ll feel like they’re part of their own action packed movie. Get some of it out of their system and maybe your lounge room will look less like the deck of a pirate ship.
For the toddler who’s ready to take on the creatures of the deep, the Boys High Seas Buccaneer Toddler Costume will get them on their way. For the child who’s not sure whether he wants to be a pirate or a big ugly fish the Pirates of the Caribbean 3 Maccus Sharkman Child Costume will let him experience both, so he won’t have to decide.
For the older and bigger pirate who dreams of pillaging and plundering the Pirates of the Caribbean Davy Jones Deluxe Teen Costume will be a crowd stopper.
Pirates may not seem much like sensitive new age guys but the profession of piracy is far from being a boys club. Some women seem born for the job. Your daughter can look the part too in the Pirates of the Caribbean 3 Elizabeth Pirate Deluxe Childs Costume. While most pirates use brute force and sharp knives to get their way every girl knows that a nice costume and a little charm works just as well.
If your child has more street appeal than street smarts, they’ll get by nicely in the Cap’n Cutie Child Costume. If your pirate is overly concerned about fitting in with the crowd, or wants to spend time with ghostly friends on Halloween, the Buccaneer Bones Pirate Childs Costume will have him feeling right at home in the cemetery.
If your kids are ready to take to the high seas for a Halloween adventure, you’re bound to find original pirate Halloween costumes for kids that tickle their imagination. There’s nothing more appropriate for Halloween than a real kids pirate costume. After all, trick or treating is piracy at its best, so let your kids out to plunder the neighborhood on the one night of the year when it’s legal.

Got a bird problem at your house? Are there owls delivering messages at all odd hours of the day and night? If you have it’s likely you have a young witch or wizard living under your roof who’s a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
While you may not be able to get them to Platform Eight and Three Quarters in time you can get them into a kids Harry Potter Halloween costume if you order now. Halloween is the time for everyone to open their minds and embrace the possibility that there is more to this world that meets the eye.
The world is full of magic but apparently as we slide from childhood to adulthood to parenthood, we lose sight of it. So this Halloween, cast your mind back to childhood days when you KNEW magic existed. Help your little one enjoy the magic of Halloween in a kids Harry Potter costume.
Gryffindor is arguably the most noble of the houses at Hogwarts. Hermione and Harry are both proud members of Gryffindor and now your child can be a part of that elite house with the Harry Potter Premium Gryffindor Robe.
Of course, if your child enjoys the odd conversation with reptiles, the black and green robes of Slytherin will be a great fit.
Of course a major part of life at Hogwarts is playing the dynamic game of Quidditch. Whether your child plays as a seeker, beater, catcher or chaser the Harry Potter Quidditch Robe Super Deluxe Costume is essential.
If your student of magic prefers the darker side, there are plenty of costumes for them to choose from. For the child who enjoys sucking the life out of you there’s the Harry Potter Dementor Child’s Costume. Just remember not to kiss your little one on Halloween – Dementors kiss their victims, sucking the happiness from souls and filling them with unpleasant memories.
If your little angel wants to play on the other side the Death Eater Costume will give them a taste of evil. Perhaps your child is more ambitious and ruling the world is their goal. If so, they’ll probably prefer the Lord Voldemort Costume. If your little witch or wizard isn’t quite ready to rule the world or battle evil there’s a Harry Potter Hedwig Costume available that will give everyone a hoot on the night.
Whichever Harry Potter costume design you choose for your little one, let the magic of Halloween transport your child to the wonderful world of Harry Potter where anything is possible for those who are brave enough to take the risk.
