With a growing business, my husband is always looking for ways to save. These days most businesses, small, medium, and large, need to be more frugal and find cost savings anywhere they can. With smart planning, businesses can apply a few frugal ideas - and possibly save a few jobs out there!

One of the best ways we have found to save on office supplies is to buy at the big warehouse stores like Costco and Sam’s Club. You can save big money on many items, and you’d be surprised at some of the items you can buy there. For busy business owners, Costco offers a fabtastic fax service. You just fax over your order, and pick it up at the pre-determined time. It is a real time saver. You will even pass up the often very long check out lines and proceed to a special check out line for business fax customers.

Here’s a great example of savings. Today we ordered a new supply of business checks online from Costco. For less than $21 (including shipping) we’ll get 600 business checks. The cost through the bank would have been $59.99 for 250 checks! That’s a savings of $120!! (4 cents per check for 600 checks versus 24 cents per check for 250 checks).

The warehouse clubs offer many other top quality business and office supplies that will help you save big. And, you can also order online and have the supplies delivered to your door for a reasonable delivery charge. So it’s convenient and you’ll usually still save over the big office supply houses.

There is a membership fee to benefit from the very best prices at the warehouse clubs, but overall it’s worth it. Most businesses will recoup the membership fee with their very first purchase, so don’t be put off.

So make a commitment to frugality at work. Whether you are the business owner, or the manager/decision maker, save money and save jobs!
